I am posting this to see whether other 2023 Suburban owners have experienced similar issues and whether GM’* response is consistent with what others have been told.
My vehicle experiences noticeable shuddering, shaking, and loss of power while operating in Auto 4WD. These symptoms occur during normal driving, including straight-line travel, and are significant enough to affect the driving experience.
My understanding of the Auto 4WD system is that it is intended to be used during normal driving conditions and should automatically engage the front drivetrain when additional traction is required. While I can understand minor driveline feedback during engagement events or certain low-traction situations, I do not believe substantial shuddering, vibration, or power loss while driving straight should be considered normal operation.
GM Customer Care has informed me that there are no issues with the vehicle and has attributed the condition to “driveline stack-up.” However, I am struggling to accept that a vehicle operating as designed would exhibit these symptoms with no available repair or corrective action.
My concern is not the technical explanation being provided, but rather the fact that the vehicle does not operate smoothly in a mode that GM designed and recommends for use. If this condition is truly considered normal, then I would expect other owners to experience the same behavior. If not, then it suggests there may be an underlying issue that has not been properly identified.
I would appreciate hearing from other owners, technicians, or dealership personnel who have encountered similar symptoms. Specifically, have you experienced shuddering, shaking, or power loss in Auto 4WD, and if so, what was the diagnosis or resolution?
Gm field service rep:Concern: Slight bump/fishbite concern.
Cause: Slight bump felt from stop about 15-20 MPH. Concern only present in Auto four wheel drive. concern not present in 4 hi or 2WD.
Correction: Normal characteristic of driveline stack up during 4WD manuevers on dry pavement. No repair needed.
