Hey. Im wonder if anybody knows how to get rid of the god awful ring when you turn on the ignition?? Its on a 98 gmc safari

AT YOUR OWN RISK:

You could open the module under the dash that has the chime in it and put a piece of tape over it. That would diminish it a lot.

Or: I've read of some folks sticking sharp things in it to destroy the cone in the center.

Should be the same module.

I was looking on google. They don't have your exact vehicle (or the Astro) that I saw, but same issue on near-relatives like Suburban and pickups.

. . . and youtube has a few how-tos on the subject as well.

Ive look on google and youtube but all i can find are videos of door chime modules. Does the door chime and ignition chime run off the same module?

On theses 90s safari/astros, the chime module is under the dash on the left side of the fuse box. It looks like this.. Theres one clip on the top side. And it just pulls straight out

Cool!

Put a piece of dense foam over the holes and then hold in place with a few laps of electrical tape. Should be a lot quieter then.
