Default 97 GMC Sierra starting problem

Hi, I have a 1997 GMC Sierra (5.7 L). I use the truck every day, but once every two weeks or so it won't start. I just get one click. If I wait a little while (15 sec to 15 minutes) and try to start it, it starts perfectly. After it starts, the engine runs great.
The battery is 3 years old.
The starter is 2 years old.
What could be the problem? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

i would start with cleaning all your big wire connections and grounds, on my gmc the braided strap that goes from the pass side engine to the frame fell apart when i touched it. look for loose wires too

I had a similar problem with my car and I changed the plugs, ignition cables and ignition module, air filter and a radiator flush . 2 coolent sensors ,5 different relay swithes , vacuum hoses ,o2 sensor , fuel filter and still had the problem ... when I changed out the air flow sensor and PCV it was good to go ....I had gotten that tip here from this web site.. good luck
