Default 2017 Acadia Limited AC mystery

I have an AC gremlin. All dampers have been replaced. New compressor, fresh charge. It worked fine for a year and when it works, it’* awesome.

Lately is has started blowing hot, but not all the time. I could cycle the compressor off and on and that would fix it. The issue is becoming more frequent. Now when I cycle the ac, it will get cold with the compressor “off” and recirc “on”. It will run like that for over 150 miles and cools better than with the compressor “on”.

This usually happens with the first trip of the day. I have noticed the longer I go without driving it, the longer it takes to eventually start cooling. Now I have to make a short trip and get the engine up to operating temperature. I have to stop, turn the engine off, and wait about 10 minutes. Then when I restart the engine, the AC instantly blows cold again.

I replaced the pressure relief valve, but it did not make a change. I had the Freon level tested and it is at the appropriate pressure. What could be causing such an erratic operation of the compressor?

I'd replace the low-pressure sensor. It'* inevitable anyways, and it has good odds of fixing this issue. Oh yeah and it'* inexpensive and not too hard to get to.
