the water port for thermostat is 2.05 but new pump is 1.88, found that from 99 to 03 they are not inter changeable, you need the larger port and thermo, if it came from factory, unless it comes with 1.88, they are available for years 99
up to 08 I think or whatever years have 4.8l,

What the stores catalog shows for the correct replacement is the one I would go with.

there is no replacement just need to shop around and find the 2.05, they are a one piece thermo and housing and were on some 99-03 models, 03 and up all had 1.88 with a thermo and separate housing. first time I've seen this on a vehicle in all my years of working on them. same truck lists 7 different flex hoses for brakes, it depends on which size of rims came on it from the factory.

The GM replacement water pump comes with a new thermostat and housing installed on the pump. I've never came across this problem before. That is why I hate buying aftermarket parts.

gm pump was $360 plus, Napa and CARQUEST has proper pump for $120, installed it works good, as for brakes, the lines are all different according to which rim was on it from factory, there are 7 different variations for the flex lines. had to go with gm, they only carry a universal line that you clocked according to what rim your using. only ever had these problems with this truck in all my years of owning gm products.
