Default 1997 Chevrolet S10

I have recently bought a 1997 Chevy S10 with a 2.2L 5 speed manual RWD and I believe the motor is no good, now with being said I also have a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero with a 3.4L OHV FWD with a bad body. Here is my question is it possible to put the 3.4L in the S10? I highly doubt the trans would match so is there a trans that would bolt up the 3.4L.? Any comments will be very helpful thank you for responding

No, mounts are different and it won't match the trans.

4.3 V6 engines are abundant in yards, along with the matching 4L60-e transmission.

Or, grab a 2002 Chevy Express van, and pull the Vortec V8 350 and trans out and drop it in your *-10.

. . . as in you have a low opinion of the particular motor? . . . or it doesn't run? . . . or it makes bad noises? . . . or?

"possible"? Anything'* possible with enough head scratching and dollars. Since nothing like the Alero 3.4 was ever put in anything like an S10 this would be extremely difficult . . . to the tune of many times what both cars are worth put together. The question here is: Have you always wanted an Alero-powered S10 or are you hoping you can make one good car car out of two bad ones on a budget etc.

Also, if the S10 is registered in an emissions-controlled area, odds are good that they won't allow it to pass emissions with a larger-displacement engine installed, even if it emits birdsong and sunshine.
