the stock stuff works pretty good. if you have a/c and an auto and live in the south its going to be on all the time so no benefit to taking it out. if you live in a cooler area with no a/c there can be some benefit but you dont want something that blocks the engine/rad. most of the cooling is done by the air going through it from driving. there are limitless options for electric, depends how much you want to spend, you can get one from a newer truck and modify it to fit, get a aftermarket kit from summit or something. not real easy to do a sender based kit on that because the pcm needs the signal from the sensor in the top of the manifold for fueling and the one by the driver side head is for the interior gauge, dont think there is any other ports.

I didn't mention that the motor is modified. It has 96' vortec heads on a 88 block with a edllebrock performer intake/ with the stock throttle body. The truck has A/C and I live in a cooler climate (CAN) I already have an electric fan controller w/thermostat that will turn on and off single or dual fans at any temp you select. I just want a good rad/fan setup for cooling the motor well.

i would just go around the junk yard and get one. i have heard some the new toyota full size have a cowl that has doors on it that open driving down the road. those v8s make more than a vortec 350 so you know if you grab the fan and cowl and wire pigtail it should work for your application.
