GM Recalls Every 5th Gen Chevrolet Camaro for Ignition Risks - Torque News

The 5th Gen Camaros (2010-2014 MY) are being recalled for an ignition problem. This issue requires the driver to hit the key fob hard enough with their knee to switch the ignition from run to another position. The results are the same as the Cobalt/G5 issue. There are 464,712 Camaros affected in the US and another 46,816 in Canada, Mexico and "outside of North America". GM has also put a stop-sale order to all applicable dealerships on all Camaros, 2010-2014 MY, new or used. The fix will be a traditional style key fob, where the key won't be put directly into the fob.

This update is from a well-trusted Chevy dealership sales rep that frequents a Camaro forum.

"The recall will require separating the key from the fob
and replacing the key. The original key will be scrapped.

The customer can contact the dealer to have parts ordered
and once they arrive can have the recall performed. The
customer brings the car to the dealer with the car,
proof of ownership and both sets of keys. The fobs will
be reworked and the new keys programmed.

New vehicles will begin shipping from Oshawa on June 23rd
with the new key and fob."
