Default Winter Time...

I'm just curious. Does everyone'* car ALWAYS start up in the dead of winter? I'm talkin like -20F... Because I mean hah, people have said to me, "wow it must suck having an old car in the winter time, they just don't start!" and I always reply, "well mine does...right away."

All of my cars start every time without fail.

Any properly maintained car should start just fine in the dead of winter.

Our winters here in CA may dip down to 27* at 5:00AM in the morning, but that may be maybe 1 week out of the year. For you folks with -20*, I'd either be running a block heater or 5W-40 Valvoline Synpower.

Yep,
Maintenance and tune is key.
Even my 1978 Rabbit, with a big cam and carbs made in 1967, started every time.

She'll turn over, might take an extra crank, but she'll start. Probably the coldest my car has ever seen though is 15F, nothing in the negative digits.
