Default Winshield Replacement for Bonnies with HUD'*

Hey everyone,

My windshield cracked and I need a replacement

The Glass shops around here are charging $150.00 EXTRA for Windshields for cars optioned with HUD'* (which mine has).

Can I just order a regular Windshield for my Bonnie? Will the Display still project correctly on a regular Windshield?

Thanks

There is a film on the GUD equiped windshields to prevent ghosting of the image. Without the correct windshield you will see multiple faded images from the hud. This will probably drive you crazy in the long run. I'd get the one designed for the hud.

The coating is actually a layer laminated BETWEEN the glass layers. But PPG makes an aftermarket coating for the inside surface that is applied only in that small HUD area. I've never seen it, but what I know about optical coatings (alot, it'* my job), that should work fine. Look into it at a shop that supplies PPG parts. You may be able to buy this and apply it yourself to a standard WS.

I agree, a non-hud WS will be dim and 'ghosted'.

You got hosed. Take it back. Should be a single image, crisp and clear.

to far gone...

diamond triumph installed it in WEST VIRGINIA...its not worth that far...i did go to a diamond triumph in the cities here because it was also installed wrong and has a gap up top and a leak in the top corner. anyways when i took it there, they said the lifetime warrenty that they put on their windshields only goes with the original owner at the time of the install. so when the dealer paid for it, they got the warrenty, but when i bought it, all was lost. i got glass coverage, so im waiting for that special rock. hopefully the insurance company will cover a real HUD one

Your insurance is required to install OEM glass if that'* your desire. You'll be fine. They may already cover it simply for the leak. Call your insurance company (talk to an adjuster or your personal agent if you have one) and see what the deal is, or better yet, have someone else call so they don't log your info.

im gonna lay off for a while, considering my dad just had 2 windshields put in his new truck within 1 month of eachother...damn gravel trucks!!!

the leak isnt that bad, maybe just a couple drops after a good powerwash, but its still not good for my new headliner
