Um, how?

While I was at sea my wife had to get the windshield replaced for a safety and the company that put it in did a horrible job of sealing it. I got back 3 months laterand as sson as I took out the car I went whoa!!! I could hear everything under the hood and the wind noise was terrible (noramlly just from the door). The totally missed the bottom corner of the drivers side to the windshield with the urethane adhesive (it didn't contact at all) I immediately took the car back to them and they said that they were not going to fix it because I didn't bring it back right away. I explained my situation but they didn't care. I was miffed so I told everyone I knew not to take their vehicle there. I ended up just taking some caulking and sealing it myself. Another garage want 90.00 to reseal it. I have windshield covergae now so as soon as it gets crack (which it will) I will get the actual GM windshield put back in (the HUD looks wonky right now). RRRRRR I hate poor workmanship!!!

Yikes; it sounds like they didn't even put the right windshield in. HUD-equipped Bonnes get a special low-reflection coated windshield to prevent double-imaging of the HUD (from the inside layer of the glass as well as the outside layer).

If I recall right, you should be able to find some self-explanatory code like "HUD" acid-etched in the corner of the windshield alongside the usual maker'* marks, DoT compliance codes and such. If you don't see something like that, it may be that the goofballs installed a standard windshield by mistake, which may (or may not) be worth pointing out in another round of arguments with them...?

The work should have been warrantied for at least a year. If you filed that on your insurance you should contact them and tell them that the work was not done to your satisfaction.

Here'* a pic of it on the door.... it doesn't interfer w/ the door at all, and to tell you the truith you don't even see it. Honestly I forget that it'* even there. The flash went off with the camera and makes it look really white/bright, but actually the foam is an extremely dark grey (if not almost black) and blends right in.

Maybe the self sticking insulation could be inserted behind the weather strip where required to hold it out farther as opposed to using the silicone or caulk? In this manner, it could be completely hidden. I don't understand why GM cannot take these extra steps especially with the top line vehicles?

I think they did a pretty good job on the newer ('00+) bonnies...I heard that in independent tests they had less wind noise than any car in their class, and only the serious luxury cars (ie. Mercedes, Lexus, etc) had less. I know mine is much quieter than my GP, and I can't even use the SCV at the minimum setting becasue the car is so quiet even at high speeds that I can hear the volume change. Maybe there is just something not quite right with your fit? :?
