Why is pontiac so anti-RWD ??

Well I just happen to stop by the local pontiac dealer to pickup a friend who brought his GTO in for maint.service and we happen to take a '05 GTO for a little spin....

So whats the scoop as I do not see any GTO forums / threads here ???
I still dislike that rear end of them but man that was a adrenaline rush and RWD !!!

It'* pretty common knowledge among internet forums that MOST ponchos, if not all will be RWD within the next redesign or two. The Bonnie was killed, and there is a car taking the market for the 08 model year around the GP/Bonne size. sources have pointed out this is coming from Australia..

i subscribe to several car mags and they are all saying the same. no fwd within a 3 year span and just cars, no minivans! unfortunately a couple of them also said the new bonneville/grand prix replacement will probably be called the "g8". how do i put it tactfully......ARRRRGH!!!! give us some names we can proud of guys!
as an aside note, it won't hurt my feelings if they go back to rwd. i think we probably get as much if not more snow than new england and i've had less trouble with rwd in bad weather than fwd. fwd is better in low speed situations, ie in town, hills etc but on the highway i think rwd is better. although i have to say, this bonneville is the exception to the rule in snow. the only other fwd i drove in the winter i liked as much was my dad'* 78 cadillac eldorado. lets hear it for road-hugging weight!

like i said above i think a lot depends on your winter driving conditions. when i lived in the sticks, i had a fwd diesel vw jetta for economy. good car, but i always had a full size rwd as well and on the real snowy days, the jetta would be at home and the boat would be my driver because i felt on the highway, it handled better and felt more secure. since i've moved to the city and don't drive much out of town, fwd or rwd has become more of a none issue. for those who say fwd is better all round the only thing i would ask is are we talking big fwd (ie bonneville) or have you tried to drive a little fwd in the snow. i think you'd find a real difference!
