Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. As I told Jeff, I can't tolerate stupidity. Ignorance,
yes, because it can be overcome by learning. STOOPIDITY is another story altogether.

Weighing in on this topic.....

1. I agree (to an extent) with DeathRat'* assessment of the Club turning into a "Chat club", though in certain instances I don't see that as a BAD thing, but it should be explicitly said that certain discussion are to be held in certain areas. And if someone gets off track with a certain thread, then nuke the post/thread and direct the person to post in the proper area! And if you don't like that sort of chatty stuff, then stick with Bonneville Intensity (which is properly maintained and doesn't get off the beaten path, a great resource when it comes to Bonnie info!)

2. In my personal life, I like to use "colorful metaphors" when speaking; but as I don't know you all personally, I generally choose to keep my posts "less colorful" when it comes to off-color language. I think that'* a good rule of thumb. No one wants to see my potty mouth in print, and honestly I don't mind seeing (or even posting) a blue word every now or then, but excessive profanity should be dealt with accordingly.

3. If people are purposely posting mis-information, and either deny it or can't deal with the fact that they are wrong, then nuke 'em. Where'* the discussion in that? It'* pretty cut and dried to me.

4. Ty, you and I disagree on this subject, as we've determined. Since you've posted your point of view, I guess I will weigh in on that too. (With a preface that, while I disagree with your post, I defend to the death your right to post it. )
I think it'* ridiculous that one could think "ignore it and it will go away". Why should we have to deal with these types of people at all? I take no stock in this "passive agressive" crap because it takes too damn long. That'* like sitting and watching your foot being eaten away by gangrene and saying "if I ignore it it will go away." NO, cutting it OFF will make it go away. Your passive agressive mentality might be OK for you, personally, but for the other 99% of us, we have no tolerance for stupidity and childish-ness. So, lest the board disintegrate before our very keyboards, people like PF78 should be dealt with swiftly. I can understand why DeathRat was so pissed - if the administrator is not administrating, and ignoring the pleas of the moderators, then he/she is NOT properly performing their duties. Frankly, I'm surprised he came back. He'* got enough good dialogue flowing over at his place that I don't really know why he'd want to be bothered by this place, unless he saw a need to defend his good name - which I don't think he does, 'cause his rep speaks for itself

And that is my $0.02. Take it or leave it at your leisure!

Nope, I don't have as much time now as I did in the past to devote to this site. Unfortunately, my busy schedule has coincided with a dramatic increase in traffic to the site.

At this point in my life, school is my number one priority. It is also my most time consuming activity: I have had a total of seven hours of sleep in the last two days as a direct result of my courses.

Despite my lack of time, I chose to keep this site running. I like it, I like the people, and I think that at least a few people have found it useful. It'* still fun for me.

However, if you insult my abilities or belittle my efforts, I will delete your posts.

We all have a life outside this place. Take it from someone who works 65 hrs a week and goes to school part time, plus has to take care of a 3-year-old
Don't shy away from delegating some responsibility. It seems that there are several qualified people who want desperately to be able to moderate the board AND to be able to get rid of people who really rock the boat.
I enjoy the site as well; I'm glad it'* still running despite your lack of time. But my impression is that you hold absolute control in areas that could use some help. Why not free the iron hand a little bit, and let someone help you out?

You’re all wrong LOL
(That was intended to be a joke for people who don’t understand humor)

Ignoring "planned extinction" is an excellent tool if there are proper parameters. Although this cannot be used in normal Social/group environments you have the ability through the computer to control the posts from this offending person regardless of there "offense". Much like a time out showing control not punishment. The parameters for what the people or a person on the site is not so much important as the structure required and a system to remedy behaviors straying outside the structure. Not difficult really, just not as fun and emotionally satisfying as putting a person on the stake. Oh and it requires someone to make the rules and assign a moderator to maintain the rules. I believe in one warning and then action. I give the responsibility to the offender giving them a chance to learn instead of taking on the person and letting them wash their hands of responsibility and blame the “bad” people who banned them. So now this person goes to other forums and says the Bonneville club is BLA bla bla bla. This means as car dealerships and other businesses know that the 5% of unhappy customers do the most damage to a company or in this case Forum image. My goal was to maintain the opportunity to have a site that was not just a group of small closed social groups patting themselves on the back. I like the diversity of many types of people and like to grow from it. Remember 90% of the people on the site are only watching. You have no idea how they feel. I think a successful site will not make people feel subjected to a few ideals. Just because the outside person does not respond this does not mean they don’t have tolerances that may be different. This club "NEEDS" its people.

Just something to “think” about.

Ty
