If it was a bad TPS, then the computer was screwing things up. It would give you unnecessary amounts of fuel or not enough , or wrong air amounts of air intake and that may have screwed your milage.

That could be it. I don't know too much about this.

Yep it was calculating the air/fuel mixture incorrectly due to the ECM not knowing actual position of the throttle. Yours may have just been miscalibrated, not necessarily bad.

If you were running too rich (sounds like you were) you may be looking at a premature O2 sensor failure. They don't like all that unburnt fuel. Keep an eye on the mileage for awhile.

That is exactly what happened to me, I replaced my TPS and my mileage skyrocketed, a beautiful thing isn't it.

How much is a TPS? My milage isn't good right now, infact it'* downright bad. I'm having my plugs and wires replaced soon, and i might do my O2 while i'm at it. Is there a simple way to check if the TPS is calibrated or not?

Check for leaks anywhere before you check your TPS, but you can go to any shop and have the computer read, if the TPS is bad it will say and the cost to change mine was about $190 can including labour
