WHY ARE ALL THE NEW CARS USING PONTIACS OLD BODY RIBBING
EVER WONDER WHY ALL THOSE YEARS OF AUTOMAGS COMPLAINING ABOUT PONTIACS TACKY SIDE MOLDINGS AND BODY RIBBING AND AGGRESIVE STYLING? AND NOW THAT PONTIAC CLEANS UP THE CARS, SEEMS THAT ALL THE OTHER MANUFACTURERS ARE ADDING IT TO THEIR CARS LIKE THEY STARTED IT!!!! EXAMPLE 1. BMW M3! BULGING HOOD! SIDE COKE BOTTLE SHAPE! BULGING SIDES! 2. VOLKWAGON PASSAT! SIDE BODY AREO KIT ON BOTTOM! WHY IS THAT? IM GLAD MY SSEI 2001 STANDS THE TEST OF TIME AND LOOKS AMAZING! ANYONE FEEL THE SAME?

Yes! I agree 100%. I have always found the "Boy Racer"(thats what I remember the magazine editors calling it) styling a sharp look. I think some of the best looking cars of the last 15 years are 92-94 SSE, 92-95 Grand Am GT, 97-03 GP GT/GTP, 2000-03 SSEI and the 2000-02 TA. It seems the buying public feels the same as sales of each model drop substantually once they removed the body cladding.

I like to see shape in a car, just like I do for a woman. 
Flat sides are boring. They should add some curves to them. Now GM is watering down ALL of their designs, and its really disappointing. The new Monte Carlo and Impala nearly look the same, they lost their distinctive and cool look. All of the Pontiacs look the same. Theres no more character to these cars, just once cookie cutter after another.

You can paint your side molding black to make your car look like a Subaru Outback...
Also, I really like the sides on my 94. I don't truly like the front as much, and if there were a nice compromise between the 94 and 96-99 look, that would be cool.

The M3 is a performance model, the hood bulges because it'* needed to fit the larger engine in compared to the std I-6... It has functional vents in the fenders.
What I see looking at it, it has the normal BMW crease near the doorhandles, and a sporty body kit for some functionality, and to seperate it from the "std" 3 series....
It doesn't have cladding... :?:

This is all subjective, so please no one get offended, but I’ve hated that ribbed cladding since the day I first saw it. The Grand Am was the worst example IMO. I prefer the GXP styling so much more over the SSEi, it’* still got the aggressive lines, but is not overly busy.
I have noticed that BMW has spiced up their styling. Frankly I could almost say that the new 3 series has a Pontiac influence. But being BMW and all, they skipped the cheesy cladding and added some lines that are more aggressive, but are classy as well IMO.
