Welcome to the club, Pearl! Once an exclusive club, but it looks like several folks are becoming members now.

So very glad to hear you're not seriously hurt and that your car can be fixed. You were right in not letting the dude schlep out of making an insurance claim. Surely he got a big, fat ticket out of the deal (my daughter sure did), so his insurance company will have to foot the bill. We all want to treat others civilly, but when the dude comes up with $2500 and will get the rest to you "later", you're the one that gets hosed (just like "dad" in those Verizon commercials). We pay insurance to cover these things - time to use it.

*light comes on*
I just realized my 03 Silverado is WHITE! I'm doomed.
*Lights incense, puts on garlic necklace, makes a circle of shrunken heads and stands in it...*

My white car is fine; not even a scratch on it. I don't believe it

DuPont did a study based on paint orders for repairs.

Silver was the most often wrecked, white was second. But that may be simply because there are more silver cars than white typically for each manufacturer and model.

According to their data:

Silver 20.2%
White 18.4%
Black 11.6%
Med/Dark Gray 11.5%
Light Brown 8.8%
Med/Dark Blue 8.5%
Medium Red 6.9%
Med/Dark Green 5.3%
Bright Red 3.8%
Dark Red 0.9%

Kinda lends credence to the curse, doesn't it? If there'* more silver cars than white, white probably actually DOES have a higher wreck ratio.

I've learned working in this business that Silver and White cars are the most often hit and that is due to they blend in to their surroundings alot easier than other colors. So yes Willwren, you are correct!

Now...remind me why I bought a white car?? Oh, yes...I remember, thats the only one on the lot that they had, that i could afford

That is from the DuPont Automotive Color Popularity Report which shows that silver was the most popular car color, meaning more silver cars on the road than any other color. But!!!!! Silver is actually the SAFEST color car to have on the road. A report from a major insurance company that i can't find right now, and a New Zealand study show that silver is the safest color on the road and less likely to be in an accident:

You're #1 in my book.
And I'm not even gay.

As Badnit mentioned in another white-car-crash thread, bad things happen in threes. So apparently we're done with the white car thing. Whew, I was starting to worry about my truck.
