When do they fail?

If I read the date correctly un my Upper when I got the car, she is now on her second replacement. And only at about 107,000 miles. The riginal was marked 2001 on a 98 (granted, she started her life as a rental car, so who knows how much abouse she suffered) and then back in November, that one went.

So, my point is, unfortunately there is not set rule on when they can go. The price you pay for such a nice car

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they have the problems mostly worked out on the L36s by 98-99? Seems like they did, anyway, from the reports...

Thanks again for all the advice, guys

i really wonder why gm has made any recalls to fix this problem or any mods to the engine to help this problem.

Recalls are only issued if it'* a safety concern.

They did improve it in the Series III engine. However, you also have to remember they make money on these repairs!
