When was the 3800 Type 2 Engine Introduced
I have a 98 Bonneville with K type Engine. I need to replace the engine and was thinking of buying an old junker with so so engine and spare parts.
What year was this engine introduced to the market?? Do you know what other GM models have the exact same engine, ie Lasabre.

It'* called a Series 2, not a Type 2.
The non-supercharged came out in 95, the Supercharged version in 96. There are differences in accessories, mounts, and brackets from different bodies. There are also minor differences through the years. 95 had no MAP sensor. Either 98 or 99 has a different accessory bracket elbow/passage setup and a smaller EGR seat in the LIM.
