Default Wheel Stud Problem

I went to rotate my wheels today and I had one stud break off in the lug nut and one break off after I got the wheel off. I talked to my mechanic and he said they crystalize from the heat so I am having all 10 in the front replaced tomorrow .He said he can do it without replacing the hub,at least I hope so since they are $100.00 a piece.I was wondering if my drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads could have caused the excessive heat? Any way check your studs, I am glad the wheel didnt come off while I was driving.

Had a stub problem myself earlier. Had to have total 5 studs
replaced then soon after they replaced the hub. My service
advisor wasn't sure if it was that the lugs were too tight or
that the hub was bad. But cross drill rotors known to dispense
heat better that stock rotors. So he advised me to use a torque
wrench because of my after-market wheels. I have 18" wheels
like you....

I had one broken cuz I had a blowout as I was going to get my new set of tires. They had to break it to get the rim off. My son said it is easy to fix and he will fix mine before I have to have them rotated.

I've had the same thing happen to my Riviera. I can't get 3 of my lug nuts off of the front right tire.. I broke a lugnut trying to get them off! They won't budge at all!

Are you absolutly sure you have 115x5 wheels? Aftermarket 18'* are probably heavier then stockers, especially if chrome. That'll cause more stress for sure.
