OK, this is easy I admit.
Your looking at the CHMSL on my GXP - BTW.
I just can't believe GM would allow a car to leave the factory this way.
I'm sure this would explain some unwanted percipitation in a certain area.
I don't know why I didn't notice this before.
I can honestly no longer mention GM in a conversation without shaking my head.

Ohhhhh now I see it. Took me a few tries. I'd agree with Hans here.

Well I'm not sure it left the factory that way, but isn't this the area where
common leaks occur in the 2000-2005 trunks.
My trunk is wet by the way.
I just don't see why it would have been taken apart a put back together
so poorly, but you may be right.
Hopefully it'* the source of my leaks, because I've exhausted most of the other
common places and can't find it.

haha sorry not laughing at you. But last summer one of the grand am guys had the exact same thing. he took out that light for some reason and wound up putting it in upside down and never noticed, until we found it.

I dropped in on a friend unannounced like I always do and he was changing the headlight bulbs in his Ford truck. He had the radiator trim off, the overflow bottle unbolted, and when I drove up he was debating on whether he wanted to drain the radiator himself or take it to the dealership to drain it in order to remove the overflow bottle completely in order to access the back of the headlights to change the bulbs.
I showed him the two bars on the back of the lamp housing that pull up to release the lamp housing from the vehicle. It looks easy enough to do wearing mittens in the dark. With the lamp housing off the vehicle, it is very easy to access the bulbs.
The moral to this story is that sometimes people that don't know much about cars make stuff more difficult than it needs to be. They take stuff apart that doesn't need to be taken apart instead of looking for the easy way.
