Well I'm going to start doing my own oil changes as why should I pay someone 28 when I can do it myself and know its done correctly. Any suggestions on what to use and what filters? Id like to keep it under 30 bucks. OH I have about 120K on her, what have you heard about that high-mileage oil?

Mobil1 synthetic 5w30 with a mobil filter Get it on sale and you it should be under $30 for the set.

pretty much anything in the store is better than the bulk crap the big name shops will use. im a fan of fram filters myself.

So true. My dad was driving his 81 F150 a few years ago, and lost the oil pressure. He couldn't figure out what happened, until he drained the oil and went to change the filter. It turns out that the oil filter (Fram) collapsed.

he said 30 bucks not 130 bucks nick LOL i use valvoline 10w-30 with a wix RACING filter the filter is about 10 bucks but a good filter.i just put valvoline 5-30 with a hasting filter in my buick (s2 3800) and it seems to like it

AMSOIL might cost a good bit, but it saves money in the long run since I'm only changing once a year.

When I was doing it with Dino oil (Havoline and a Wix filter) it was under $30.

i use reg Valvoline and delco filters in all my cars, ive tried that high mileage one time in my old monte and the sse, mad them both run rough and the monte lost 2 mpg.

frams have warranties against ruining your engine.... thats why i use em... but i cant change my oil here anyway. no level ground to put the car on stands and ramps are too big to store in the apartment lol.

Any modern API SM or SN (latest specifications) labeled oil will do just fine. The base oils required to meet those specs put nearly any available oil in the "Synthetic" category, but refiners won't label them as such, otherwise they lose their cash cow, the $7 per quart Synthetics.

I like ConocoPhilips products-- Motorcraft, Trop Artic, and Kendall are the three most popular and usually aren't more than $3-4 per quart, but I usually find them as low as $1.79 on sale. Makes for a $10 oil change with filter.

Filters? Avoid Fram. Most others are decent to good quality. Try Napa (Wix) and Purolator. Can't go wrong with either of those.
