what im doing to make these heated seats work
rear seat backs
and this is the shape of the heated part... and in order for the velcro on the back of the seat to work correctly, there cant be anything there
start tearing it apart
and you get this
and then you make it the right size
and it fits!

Andrew, are the heating elements insulated enough to cross like that? Looks like your gonna have roast rump in the back seat.

ummm i sure hope so... they have that blue coating on them.... and if they are sitting on foam, it cant be that bad...
i dont really feel like rebending all those wires to get a pattern that will not touch itself...
any input is welcome though

It just worries me. I've put alot of heat cable on water pipes and there insulated pretty good but found over the years when you cross heating cable like that they tend to burn at cross points. and you have quite a few.
I would get an amp reading with one just turned on and watch meter cause I think your gonna see a dramatic rise in amps quickly. Either way it would be a good thing to buy a circuit breaker instead of fusing the lead to positive.
Or get BBQ sauce and put a sweet honey in the back

I would NOT let those wires cross. rebend them to a pattern where they dont cross. The last thing you want to do is start a fire in your seats, especially with that nice new leather.

The problem there is as they heat, the places crossed are gonna get a little hotter causing resistance, which makes more heat and so on till spot frys. Looks like a worthy project but hate to see ya smoke new seats. They look bitchin.

not sure if you are going to think about the layout before hand but you may want to try running the wires vertical, so they are in long strips, should make the bending process easier.

yeah i have something in my head about getting a flat piece of wood and drilling holes for dowels and then wrapping it around them vertical like you said... should need about 20 1" dowels
