Glad I asked... So what should I do?
I have had no problems running in 3rd in the city, and D on the freeway.
I noticed that cruising at 55, I run at just below 2000 RPM in D, but in 3rd, it runs over 2000 rpm.

only keep it in drive where you are driving between 45 and 50.

if you are doing 55 steady or faster OD if 45 or slower drive.

I always use O/D. I drive 450 miles a week, mostly highway miles at 65-70 mph. I haven't used 3 since I got this car in April. I let the tranny do the work. I'll worry about shifting when I get something with a stick shift.
