$400 bucks trade in? Geeze, they don't want to move a car much.

Personally, I'd park the bonnie and let her get a car without a trade in. Your car is probably dirt cheap to insure and it never hurts to have a spare car around.

File for divorce.

Argue gas mileage, comfort factor, things like that. It'* not practical to get an SUV right now unless you have a lot of stuff to haul. Then you lose.
If you have a lot of stuff to haul then buy a trailer for those times when you need it.

If it'* YOUR car and not something purchased together way back whenever, I'd keep it. There'* no sense in trading it in if it isn't going to get you more than a few hundred, IMO. But since she is your wife I would try to compromise with her somehow, which I'm sure you're trying to do. But a 98 Explorer?? What'* so great about that that makes her want to trade your Bonneville? Your car does have a fair amount of miles and may need repairs, but if it isn't a money pit why get rid of it?

Instead of trading it in, I'd also suggest keeping the Bonneville. With a 4 year loan, the extra $400 in cost will only be something like $8.34!
