I think you got the wrong bulb. My replacement bulbs chart list for the front turn signal is a 2057NA bulb. As a matter of fact the 1157 is not even listed in my manual. You didn't mention what year and model you have. Mine a 1992 SE.

We need a year to actually help. And, it should be listed in your owners manual if you still got it. Otherwise, go to Pontiac.com and sign up for the Owners Link I think it'* called. They have most user manuals online there (PDF file, Adobe Acrobat or equivalent required)
I know our local Pep Boys has one of those "computers" where you play 20 questions, and it lists all the bulbs for your car.

If I cant find the right bulb I go to the nearest wreaker with the newest greyhound and I grab the led'* off of everything... but then I get home and start stripping wire... then it doesnt fit right... so I give up an buy the new bulb... :?
so just get the right bulb, dont do what johnny dont do does.

In actual fact, though, the extremely-useful Sylvania bulb lookup website at http://www.sylvania.com/auto/carapp/ says that the '93 Bonneville uses an 1141 bulb for backup lights. Front parking/turn-signals are 2057NA. (The "NA" denotes Natural Amber translucent tint. There'* also a 2057A out there, which is an opaque _painted_ tint, but those are crap and tend to shed their coating if they ever get wet. Make sure you use only the "NA" type for amber bulbs.)
