The rest of the car was in such great shape, and it had 144000 k on it. If the motor was ok, I would have jumped on it ( the car, not the motor). ( ok, I wouldn't have jumped on the car, but I would have really considered buying it.)

Out here in NS, Lower Sackville is know as the used car capitol of the world.
On the main street, every other business is a used car dealership... honestly... it'* kinda scary.

They often use places like Maco to repaint the cars for like $150-$200, that way they look awesome on the lot, but after 2 months the rust starts to show again.

Of course the shady ones will do lots of other things.... :P

Always be sure to look under the car and in the trunk under the lining when buying a used car.

Too bad about your find Merlin..... just keep looking. And $9,000 is a bit much for a 94... I paid $10,800 Cdn for my 97SSEi in September.

Have you tried AutoTrader.ca ? or 1992 trofeo... hehe (he found my car)

$9000 is a lot for a 94! I bought mine in 2001 with 96K miles, for $7000, and that was still too much. Too bad the engine was shot in the one you looked at. Sad to see semething like that.

$9000 CDN is about right for an asking price if the car is in reasonable shape. The lot was asking $12000 for my 96 and I ended up paying $8000 all in (which I think is a fair price). So I figure for a $9000 listing, I should probably pay around $7000 - $7500 (again, a fair price). This is a moot point, however, because I have no intention of buying a car if it needs engine repairs.

9 grand for 94 ssei with no motor, oh man such a rip off. I got my 92 ssei with a beautifuly runnig engine for 1700 Cnd and a rebuilt tranny. That my third car over all and all of them i bought of privates and would recommend for anyone to start with private ads and keep dealers as a backup.
