Vig, just scan for KR, get a 180 in there, and think about exhaust. Keep out of WOT unless it'* REALLY cold weather out there until you know.

Keep in mind zero KR this time of year may not be zero when it gets hotter. Really glad you got her. You'll enjoy that car a bunch.

Oh yeah...it'* got a drilled 180 in it already.

When scanning for KR do you need to rev the motor at all?

Scanning while you drive.

Notice light throttle, mid and wot readings. Best to have a passenger to watch for you though.

Safe?? Not sure it'* a matter of safe.

KR is Knock Retard, or the amount to timing retardation the pcm/computer gives your engine to reduce the timing and power to keep knocking and pinging from occuring. As long as you have a good knock sensor the pcm should keep you from having detonation problems from knocking and pinging.

Knock/Pinging comes from low octane fuel, exhaust leaks, and any other item the knock sensor can see and think the engine is knock/pinging.

Okay, so I should just be watching for ANY kr, not a severity level?

KR means power is being lost. And there'* knocking happening.

And if your sensor doesn't pick it up, it could be quite spectacular.

The goal is the smallest pulley you can run with ZERO KR in the summer.
