I dont' know how well a 87-91 tranny would hold up.
common I know the SER2 is desirable, but whats wrong with the SER1....look at all the new parts DrJay has found for them....im working on an intercooler willwren is working on some intercooler type of device (top secret) so the mods are out there and not more expensive than SER2 mods....and all yer gettin with the swap is 15 hp.........just think about it, the SER1 revival is upon us dont give up now
WHOA WHOA WHOooaaa....
Hey guys this was supposed to be a blue sky thing!
What I meant was,
"What would YOU do if YOU were doing a full-on, frame-up, blue-sky rebuild/restoration/rod project on YOUR Bonnie?"
For the sake of openness, I will throw open the doors to ANY FWD, 3.8 GM car, or Series 2 F-body.
For the record, I didn't actually say that I WAS doing a conversion. It is just one option that I may consider when the cash goes back to positive integers.

be honest I would do a full Intense SER2 swap with maby 400 whp and all the suspension peices to go along, then id do a rear disc conversion have all the body done so every gap was perfect no dents or scratches and get 02 Trailblazer bright red paint (almost the same shade as my Bonne but a little more orange) then id do a full air bag suspension with fast air and vertical doors for all 4 (rear ward doors going up oppsite fronts) .........mmmmm sounds like fun, but then again I barely gots the funds to do this intercooler! LOL
Ooooh, a Bonnie wish list...Okay, I'd do the 4.1l stroker conversion* with Manley forged rods* and BME Forged pistons*, fully balanced* of course. CR dropped to 8.2:1*. Custom intake mainfold with a MP112 supercharger in the 15psi range, custom intercooler. Heads totally reworked to accept larger valves, ported till its almost see through. In the range of a .490" bump stick with custom 1.8 roller rockers. Transmission would stay 4t60 but totally reworked, custom parts if necessary. 3.06 final drive with a beefy LSD*. Baer brakes with upgraded master cylinder. Lowered 1-1.5"* with two step air bags in front and rear*. Giovanni Abruzzo 18" rims* paired with yokohama stickies*. Custom body kit similar in aggression to the 2000 Cobra-R, but no tall spoiler. Triple black paint* with a nice tint*. Interior completely upgraded, yet similar to stock. 2 8" JL audio'* mounted in the rear deck*, 6x9'* in the rear doors*, 2 12'* in the trunk*. Amps to go along*....thats all I can think of right now. If I ever win the lotto you'll see it happen
* On my "more in reality" wish-list.

As far as converting to Series II BonEvilSSEI is along the same thought lines as I am. With what we know now, and the parts available, there'* probably more performance for Series I'* at your fingertips than you'll probably ever need. The parts I've listed are cheaper than those available for SII'* and all the other goodies are do'able to the SI anyway. In March I'm ordering a custom set of headers, and I'm having the entire process mapped out (already planned). That way anyone can take the info to a shop and have a set built for them, without the added cost of measure-cut-measure-cut. After that I can't think of a single piece thats available for the Series II that isn't for the Series I, other than an intercooler and thats being worked on already....meh
