Default takin the old bonnie out back...

...and putting her down. I was driving it home on new years when it starting knocking really bad. After it limped home, we towed it to a shop, where we found out there is a bad bearing on either the crank or the connecting rod. A new short block would be needed, and the car already needs $2000 worth of transmission work. We decided to take the wheels and junk it. I'm kinda sad since this was my first car, but hopefully I will get to move up to the 2000 bonneville now

That is terrible to hear. It'* a shame she can't be fixed. We've had some transmissions fixed in the past few years and it only ran about $1300. I don't mind fixing my 1994 because I know what all I've got into it already. I wouldn't want to buy someone else'* problem.

thats $2000 for the trans and another $2000 for a new engine. Im 3 hours away at school and nobody else has the time to part it out. We are taking the wheels and thats it.

u should just drop a used engine and tranny in from the junkyard, my yard that i go to frequently i could get a low mileage engine for 350 and a tranny for about 450-500.

Moms 94 SSE got a 80000 mileage engine in it 2 years ago for 300.00 and it is still runnin to this day*knocks on wood*

nobody at my house has time to do it. Finding the motor and trans isnt the expensive part, its getting them put in. Labor is what kills you. I would go for a L67/4t65e-HD anyway.

That sucks- kinda reminds me of my 89 SSE'* death
Engine had a knock, the coil pack went, and it was only firing on a few cylinders, the tranny was about to go, it needed 4 new tires, new ball joints, a tie rod and a new rad. So I don't regret the decision to let her go, as I parted it out myself, and all that was left was a steele carcus. I do miss that car...good memories.
When I got my 91- it had all the options that I did not have on the 89 but needed a lot of work. perfect frame though. and then the work began.....
