well just think, after you get a trans done you can hopefully plan on several years of troublefree driving. probably the biggest point of failure your car is going to have or the intake issue which would not hurt doing as preventive mainenance before it puts water in your oil.

after these 2 things are taken care of your car should last until it crashes or rusts apart.

It might not be true at many other places, but I went to a shop in a near-by city of about 100,000 and they repair all the drivetrains for the city. i.e. police cruisers, ambulances, even small fire engines. They rebuilt the tranny in my 91 grand am about 4 years ago for a little under 900 bucks and it shfted like a champ up until I sold it a month ago. That'* even with the abuse a then 18 year old male puts on a car. I'd find out who does your city repair and have them quote you. Maybe I just got lucky, but it'* worth a shot. Good luck!

Maybe I'll make some calls today... thanks for the idea. The tranny place it'* sitting at right now said they didn't find anything much different from Real Pro, but they rebuild them they don't just go grab a Jasper and throw it in. It would start at $1,400 and go up from there. Not good news for me w/o a job. I have an interview today with FedEx and a group tour Monday with UPS... UPS has enefits and that'* what I'll need by the end of this year. But we'll see I'm trying to get my mom to help me out here but it'* not going so smoothly. I'd hate to drive her and make it cost me even more money later on bc more sh*t broke. Geeeeez!

Mel, trans problems on the 65 that you have are not uncommon by your mileage. We'll do what we can to make sure you don't get burned. Keep us updated all the way through the ordeal, and we'll save you at least SOME money. I gaurantee it.
