Well I'm not too thrilled about my repaint on the hood. Rather wish I hadn't gone through with it now. I picked up the car, and the hood they repainted is now actually black. The rest of the car looks more like a very dark brown. I'm still suspecting a bad factory paint job that was done too light, but hard to say. But now the hood just looks funky next to the fenders. I was inspecting it under halogens, so maybe it won't be so bad in daylight, but I'm guessing it will be easy to spot in good sun. Guess I'll have to call the body shop and make sure they used the correct paint and see if anything can be done. Man does this suck.....

Just tell them it doesn't match and to do it again.

Trouble is, they probably used the right color. I just think the factory paint wasn't done correctly. But I'll see what they say. They did do a pretty good job otherwise, except for the swirl-o-matic wash they gave it.

Well, you are an unsatisfied customer. They should want to fix that.

Yeah, I can deal with a little mismatch, but this looks pretty bad to me. I am curious though how it would look in sunlight. It'* easy to spot under the halogens, but I haven't seen it in good sun, and being winter in Michigan I'm not sure when I will either.

Usually when only one part of a car is painted, the auto body shops blend in the other panels as not to make it noticebly different. Maybe they just didnt blend in the fenders when they should have.

Any reputable shop would try to MATCH and BLEND the paint, rather than going to a book for a paint code number. Take it back. And tell your insurance agent/adjuster that you are unhappy with the quality of the repair.

I agree completely. When I last got a car repainted (a dark burgundy) the body shop bought the factory paint, but changed the color slightly to match the fade of the current paint on the car. I can't believe they didn't take into account the FADE that any paint is going to go through. Of course it'* going to look darker than the rest of the car. Sounds like they weren't competant enough to do the job correctly.
