I got an e-mail earlier from someone in Dublin, Ireland and he says he is an agent for a buyer. He wants to send me more money than the amount to pay shipping, him, and myself. The way he plans on paying is to send me a check. I told him I'd have to wait for it to clear but if it bounces don't I owe more than the amount on the check? I told him either cash or paypal. What do you guys think?

ding. craigslist is loaded with that kind of thing. theres actually a pretty decent article linked at the top of craigslist'* page.

a general rule though with any sale is this. if it doesn't feel safe right or kosier. just stay away from it. he can't take anything from you if you don't give it to him.

Absoluted right. Ask him some questions before anything. I get those all the time. I get referred people from google and over wedding photography sites ans such and all the time I get people asking for my services but then tells me I need your contact information so i can send you a check for the deposit. First of all they dont know how much the deposit is, they are usually from the UK or some other nation, they misspell everything, and you think I am going to give out my address to some stranger, I dont think so. But I still ask questions to make sure they are not actually clients that are legit. They never respoind back soo thats how it goes. Be very cautious

Long story short - scam.

I have a friend you gave out another friends address to someone. They sent a check, yada yada and the police are involved. Very ugly, but my friend never tried to cash it. Did some checking and it was a forged document.

Don't do it.

its not worth finding out if this is a scam or not, just stay away and you will save yourself so much trouble down the road.

Ok I told him cash or he'* not getting it. He hasn't replied since so it was probably a scam.
