Anyone remember the headlight lens difference between 92 and 97?
92-95'* are Glass lens refracted.....97'* are clear and refracted in the casings itself.
That'* prolly one reason why it seems like the 92'* were shining better.

I have the same headlights (glass) on my 93 and 95. I'm using the light in my own pics as a point of comparison for the dimness.
Looks like the color change came at a cost.

....and dont forget you can modify the 9005 light to fit the into the 9006 side for even more light output.
