Totaled by hail storm
Well guys. A wicked bad turn of events. We had a gynormous hail storm last week. It damaged the house, took out windows, chipped stucco siding and trim/paint. But worst of all it totalled the SSEi. There was so much body damage and the windshield was taken out that the insurance company totalled it. When the appraiser walked up to it, even before he started to do the numbers, he told me it ws totalled. Waiting to get a final number from the insurance co. I wanted to try to find an 04 GXP Bonne but my wife wants a smaller car for the city. She used to have a 318 is BMW that we had to sell for the move down to Phoenix in '08. She really liked that car. So I guess we'll be looking for something lke that. Damnedest thing is, I just spent $1300 replacng the front hubs, and all the brakes, rotors and tires. I will get something back from that because the repairs were right before the total. But not all of it. Damn. Anywho, guys. Thanks for all your help on things I picked up on the board, I guess I can give all my attention to the '63 Catalina now. Be good, be safe, and be healthy. Mark L EX-SSEi owner (sniff).

Mark, I'm really sorry about your Bonneville. Are you going to "sell" it to your insurance company? Hopefully, you get a great car out of all of this. You know, you should still stick around though! We've got a Your Other Ride section in which all your cars can go!
Also, I moved your comment into a new thread. This is some pretty important news!

If I remember correctly its 25% of the insurance companies value.. Might be worth it to buy it back for 300 to 500 bucks, something that age they might just leave behind to them its not worth anything

Thank you guys for the thoughts. I'm hoping to get enough to fund most of the next car, it all depends on what I receive. There was a lot of damage down here. lots of claims, so it is taking forever to get thru. Thank you for the invite to the Other Rides section. I won't be able to contribute much to the base of the Forum (Bonnevilles) but like any car nut, I like to show off. I'd be proud to have my '63 remain on your site. I'm really progressing slowly on the build so there may be long times between entries. I'll go to that section and look at adding the info in there. Thanks again for welcoming me in. Mark L

I took you up on your invitation and added a thread on the Other Car Section. But I also made the decision to let the Bonne go. I got just click short of $6000 for it so I took it and ran. At least I know how much I'm looking at now and can seriously start shopping. I think we are going to settle on a used BMW 5 series. Can still have fun with that. I've been looking for a nice turbo WRX automatic but so far can only find manuals. But I have a truck to use so I'm in no hurry. We're looking in the $10,000 range so something good show pop up. Right now many people down here are hurting for money and are selling nice second cars. I hate taking advantage but I have to when it presents itself.
SOOO!!! A shopping we will goooo, a shopping we will gooo,---sorry. Mark L
