No real advantage Dan, other than they look good (red). The stock coils are very powerful and provide years of quality service. If your having troubles with one of yours then yes get a set.

Dammit O'niel. 
The coils in the 97+ SSEi is hotter than the others (older and other models), so if you have a 92-96 SSEi, or any SE, SSE, or SLE, the MSD 8224 coils are hotter than yours. There is some mid-range to high-range RPM hp gain to be had. It'* noticable. The 8224'* are the same 'hotness as the 97+ coils, and are cheaper than the stock OEM coils from gmpd.
I do suggest upgrading your wires to handle them.
