You gonna use the brake light sockets? I "need" a full set, but I'm too lazy to go to the junkyard.....

Where is this auction, and can you find me one? Or something with a low miles L67 in it? Cause I think the tranny in the LTZ might be getting tired, so if I decide to keep it, I think an L67 would suit it nicely.

I just checked my schedule and I am not free until the end of may due to classes, so if i do make it out to help, It'd be after that.

The car came from a Copart auction. I believe all they do is salvage vehicles from insurance companies. Collisions, recovered theft, flood, hail, etc. You have to be a licensed dealer in order to register and bid. I have two buddies that each own towing and recovery businesses (one pictured). They led me to a guy that deals primarily in salvage vehicles. It turns out that I know through my work. I helped him out of a jam a couple of times so we have a pretty good rapport. Good enough that he searched and bid on the car for me.

During the ride out and back, I talked to Ron about how one goes about obtaining a license for this type of activity. It sounded like too much BS for me to pursue. Do you know any used car dealers in your area well enough to have them bid? Also, the Springfield, MA police department has an auction for seized and abandoned vehicles that the public can participate in by registering. Maybe you can research if there is something similar in Albany, Buffalo or NYC that you can get into.

Your timeline is good. I don't have a deadline for the conversion and have a feeling the electrical is going to be very time consuming. I'm still waiting for both service manuals to come in too. I hope to have it running in the 90 within 2 weeks of my return from the cruise but the goal is to have it fully functional (AC, gauges, etc) which will take some time.

Belive it or not, she was pretty cool with the idea. I asked to keep the bidding and auction fees under $1000 so she was pleasantly surprised whrn the bill was half of that. I also made some arrangements so I didn't have five cars in my driveway and yard. It already looks somewhat like Sanford & Son

I did thank her for not yelling at me. She'* a great woman
