Default Thoughts and a Few Thanks For NEBF

Just some thoughts I put together, reflecting back on my first NEBF:

Even though I was from just about as far away as possible from Enfield, Connektikut as an individual could get, you all made me feel welcome and at home. From seeing the Gumball machine roll up at the airport to first pick me up last Tuesday, to watching the four "nut jobs" roll away in the whining purple people eater yesterday afternoon, never once did I feel out of place or not a part of the NE crowd. Everyone was so great and I had one of the best times of my life and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I was burnt out and needed my life to be rejuvenated and you all did that, and more.

For anyone wondering if there is a difference between WCBF or NEBF…rest assured, they are more alike than you can imagine. Maybe a little more members and a little overall younger crowd at NEBF, but the family atmosphere, friendship, helpfulness, and camaraderie is all the same. It is still the same warm, caring, down-to earth BC members that you all know and love and that keep us all coming back here to BC each day. I will say to anyone that is even remotely thinking about getting to a BC meet to go for it. You will be amazed at the fun and friends that will come your way and stay with you for a long, long, time.

A Few Thanks:

I want to thank everyone that attended NEBF, whether it was for several days or only a few hours. Everyone in their own way, contributed something special and unique to the meet, and even if you don’t realize it, the meet wouldn’t have been the same without all the great personalities and everybody’* presence. I don't mean to not thank or say something about everybody, as this post is already too long as it is, but I felt compelled to single out a few members.

First and foremost….a HUGE thanks to Bill for opening up his house, garage, toolbox, yard, bathroom, basement, and town to all of us. The rain kept the meet at Bonnevilla instead of the campground more than we had hoped, and yet you understood that stuff happens and the meet went on (although I am sure your house took a worse beating than you will ever admit too). Words cannot describe what your friendship has meant to me over the last couple of years and you, above all, made NEBF possible for me.

A bajillion thanks go to Tracy for making the meet and events happen. Everyone knows that without you, the meet wouldn’t have been a success. Your coordination of attendance list, the campground, checking up on the strip, and other efforts that occurred was nothing short of a miracle. I am sure there are many hours and countless other little details that you had to juggle before and during the meet to keep us all in line. You know you will always have a special place in my heart.

Pete, the job you did on the awards certificates was amazing. You surpassed anything I ever thought even you would do and they were definitely one of the highlights of the meet. Again, it was a privilege to get to meet you and I was honored to pass out your awards certificates. Couldn’t have done it without you.

Thanks to Don for the run to the craft store and the awards shop. (and the fact that you didn’t even threaten to ban me when I missed the exit and took us on the detour into Massachusetts in your Bonne).

Also thanks to Mike for actually putting together the amazing trophy. I was a little unsure of what to do and how to make it happen. I may have had the idea, but your advice and handiwork made it happen and YOU pulled it off. I really appreciate you and Tracy helping with the awards winners... and next time, turn “traction control” OFF.

Thank you, Aaron, for setting up the Six Flags event and getting the awesome discount. It seemed that those that went had a great time and it is easy to see why you are one of the meet favorites (despite going rice on us)

Ryan (Badnit) for helping prep the Bonnevilla shed and garage with me on Wednesday before the crowd started showing up. They looked so much better after we finished.

Stephanie and Ryan for the food and campfire cookout (and all the other little things you guys helped out on). You guys are so amazing words can’t begin to describe your caring, kindness, and generosity.

Pat, buddy. Thanks for helping BIll out in prepping Bonnevilla as well. Despite what Bill says about you, you are a fine young man and I am proud to be able to call you a friend. We had way too much fun on “our” test drive and I am convinced the off-white curse has something special going on.

Thanks to my homie Frank for assiting in the awards ceremony. Brrriiing...Brrriiing...Oh, Frank.....It'* for you

Thanks to Mechanic Dan for opening up his shop and assiting Bill in smashing a radiat...oops.....I mean reinstalling the transmission.

and finally, a BIG thanks to Sonny and his family for being the BEST neighbors in the world. Not just during our BC meet, but obviously to Bill all year round.

Again, sorry if I didn't say thanks directly to all of you and for those that helped out, but this post would have gone on for 10 pages all by itself and I was starting to get all mushy.

I was going to comment on this earlier but truely didnt know what to say. So after thinking about it, I am going to keep it short and simple. I was only at NEBF for 1 day but i know for a fact i made some freinds that i will have for a very long time. Bob you are one of them. It was great to meet you and I thank you for your warm welcome when i got there. You and a few others made me feel very welcomed there and i truely appriciate that.

agree with everything you said, it was an absolute pleasure to meet everyone. the dinner was no problem at all, and we are delighted that you all enjoyed it so much. just to bad that it had to rain at the time and the grill was junk.... "BAD CHARCOAL... BAD" oh well, we just took the grate and put it over the fire and cooked them up just fine. thanks peterg22000 for helping us with the cooking also, even though you did lose some dogs and a burger

we absolutly plan on making another NEBF, who knows, maybe WCBF. we will see what we can do about a canadia meet later this year. "EHHHHHHHHHHH"
it will all depend on how we feel about leaving little "Swoopie" or "Fenderbender" with someone for a few days.

Bob, you were great to talk to, sorry we didn't get to shoot the sh** about music like we said we would

Boost, thanks for putting up with me and for your hospitality.

Crash, Steph, you guys were awesome. Thanks for sharing your tent with me; I hope I wasn't too intruding

Tracy, it was great talking to you, and thanks a BUNCH for setting this up. You did a great job!

Frank... Ohhh, Frank... hahahahahha, it was great to meet you.

And last but not least... THANK YOU BRIAN for making this trip actually possible for me. Thanks for putting up with me for TWO WHOLE DAYS OF DRIVING!

Meeting all of you guys, I gotta say, was one of the best times of my life. This club really is something special. You usually don't find this many great guys in one place. I can't wait to see you all next year!

There are so many things and people to comment on. Again, I just wanted to hit to foramally say thank you to those that did the behind the scenes work that many of us didn't know about.

Having said that, now I am going to continue some other thoughts. Tom and PeterG did great job on shining up exteriors, and Don and Bill as well as MANY others did great assiting and fixing cars. If we would have had a paint booth and a lift, Bonnevilla could have given any auto repair shop and most dealerships a run for the money.

TJ and Canadian Don came on down (with thier honeys) even though they knew the racing was most likely going to be rained out. That was very classy. TJ and I hit it off right away (I swear, I don't know why, but I seem to attract more power hungry NAed crazies than anyone I know). And Don, your '* exhaust was so unique. It was fun watching all of our heads turn when you rumbled away. and both of your french Candian accents were fricken' cool.

Peter (Petraman). We'll defintiely talk tunes sometime when we aren't so distracted by the events and what was happening at the meet.

More comments from me to come, later, for the rest of you NEBF bozos I have not yet talked about
