Testing an alternator

When you turn on your HVAC does it trip a relay? I ask because I just had a battery problem and traced it to a relay on my power antenna. It was drawing nearly 5 amps. If the coil goes out it will short but not blow a fuse, just run hard and pull power. I tested the relay and it tested perfect. Swapping a new relay should be a easy and fairly cheep test.

sorry can you explain a little more? i have no idea what you're talking about
how do i know if it trips a relay?



i bought a new battery for $240.00

anyways new battery installed but problem is still the same, voltage still dropping
as for the battery dying i still didnt try it

I just added a write up in tech info, should be in testing, it'* a amp draw test. Check if you have any draw on the battery. Also, you say when you turn something on the voltage drops. I would start checking the wiring for that, there may be a short. Check places where it might be rubbed like going threw the fire wall.
