If you have an idea or an article already written for the Techinfo section, please PM the idea or article to myself or jr's3800 for consideration or posting.

We invite all new members to browse the Techinfo library. We've amassed an amazing amount of information from the basic to the outlandish.

Keep the articles coming!

I've updated the clear corners article to include the 92-99 procedure from Nytro67.
All years 92-current are now covered in this one article:

willwren 11-08-2003 10:34 PM

A new article has been added to Techinfo. Headlight switch/dimmer assembly replacement for 92-99. Thanks to Andy Green again (acg_ssei).

Working on another one right now......Techinfo night, I guess. Torque specs for just about everything on the car......

willwren 11-09-2003 03:36 AM

Ok, assembly Torque Specifications is done, posted to Techinfo, Specifications, article #13. This took awhile manually entering:

Torque specifications for body/trim, suspension/steering, transaxle, and engine for 87-99 Bonnevilles.

Assembly Torque Specifications
Disclaimer: As with all automotive procedures, refer to the
proper maintenance manual for correct steps/sequences. This
is meant as a quick-reference guide only. Some bolts require
additional rotation after torque (+70°) or a particular
sequence, or a certain number of steps per torque. Pay close
attentiont to Ft/Lbs vs. In/Lbs. Some values were left out, as
these bolts really require a maintenance manual to do it correctly.
Also note the major differences between years/engines

Formatting is a little goofy, but it's easy to follow.
I learned alot on this one. Many more differences between years/engines than I thought. Some very subtle. Take a browse through the list, and you'll see what I mean:

Running out of things to do while you recover, Will?

Good info, tho, thanks!

willwren 11-09-2003 03:54 AM

That one freaking hurt. I don't think the hand was up to it. Adding wheel lug torque, then going to bed. Gnight all.

MOS95B 11-09-2003 03:57 AM

Pretty good typing, for being one handed. How'd you learn to do that?

DeathRat 11-09-2003 10:52 AM

Well Will, If you want even MORE of a headache.....I can send MORE INFO from GM's Database that should keep you busy until you DIE! Which incidently might come about from this info.

MOS95B 11-09-2003 12:04 PM

How about a list of OBD codes? Or just the more common ones.

willwren 11-09-2003 12:28 PM

Al, gimme what you got. I had your original files from your Yahoo BA site, but a hard-drive crash nixed it.

macho_mike21 11-09-2003 01:38 PM

Another new article has been posted to Techinfo, Common Problems (due to the frequency of having to do this):

92-99 Interior Door Panel Removal, submitted unknowingly by SSEi95. ;)

Thanks Gordy!

Sol 11-10-2003 12:50 PM

What is the status on the article about Torque and Gearing I posted a while back. Did you get a reply from that guy?

willwren 11-10-2003 01:23 PM

Yes, I did, and I have permission to 'alter' and 'massage' the article to fit our application, but the email is at work, and I'm out, not returning there untli the 17th. I actually have the article printed out with hand-written notes all over it already

willwren 11-10-2003 01:37 PM

Done. And edited the first one to reflect front doors.

Well I'll see how small of of package I can make it for you. Do you have WinRAR?
I've got COMPLETE ACCESS to GM's On-Line Database too (Service Info, TSB's, Campaigns, Instructions, etc for 1996+ models)

willwren 11-11-2003 12:52 AM

Don't have WinRAR any more, but I'll get it if that's what you have, unless you can make it an executable?

MOS95B 11-11-2003 08:11 AM

Don't mail executables, they'll never make it. I think I can fix your lack of WinRar problem if you'd like, tho...

Some new articles have been posted since the crash. Please take the time to 'surf' Techinfo. In addition, Deathrat and sse1990 have been busy preparing BA in a new role as a Technical reference site.

www.bonnevilleattitude/forum

Al, can you take some time to give a quick brief on the content and purpose of your 're-birth'?

willwren 01-05-2004 02:12 AM

Added a new article to Specifications. 1993-2003 owner's manuals.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=77

willwren 01-05-2004 02:27 AM

And another. Member scantool registry. These are the members willing to help that also own scantools.

LOL > rebirth.....
All kidding aside, BA.Com purpose is Two-Fold.
1) As a Bonneville Informational Archive
&
2) As a "Q&A" Forum for my Store.

In the first Aspect, I'm trying to collect all the Info I can on Bonnevilles. Presently I'm working on posting: TSB's, GM Campaigns, Preformance Part Recommendations, General/Common Problems with Answers, How To's, Repair Proceedures, etc......

willwren 02-11-2004 02:42 AM

UPDATE!

The Scantool registry has been updated. Techinfo, Tech Know-How article #45:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=78

NEW articles:
DTC codes/descriptions for 1997-2000. Techinfo, Tech Know-How, articles 46-49:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=79
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=80
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=81
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=82

Thanks to all the participants in the scantool registry, and to Foghorn for the DTC codes. Apologies for the posting delay.

con10der 02-11-2004 10:19 AM

Cool scantool register...never knew that was in the works.

Question though...short of my '93 OBDI system...is there any benefit from using a scantool as opposed to just the "wire" method??

willwren 02-11-2004 12:28 PM

Scantool registry has been there awhile ;) I just updated it.

A scantool can tell you about 500 times more than just pulling PCM codes with a wire. You can diagnose trans shifting/TC lockup problems, O2 performance, ECT actual temps (as opposed to indicated), speedo calibration from the VSS signal, and you can DRIVE and watch all this, as well as record data. On a scale of 1-10, if a scantool is a 10 for diagnosis, the flash feature of the PCM is only a 3 or 4.

mremer 02-11-2004 01:08 PM

do we have a tech info for clearing the tail lights and center piece for the 2000+ models?

willwren 02-11-2004 01:10 PM

Nope. If someone will write it up and send it to either Don or I, we'll get to it!

mremer 02-11-2004 01:16 PM

PM'ed

jachin 03-01-2004 08:58 PM

I see questions about box building in the audio section all of the time. How about a section explaining how to build and tune speaker boxes and a full explaination of theile small peramiter. This would tell people almost exactly how a speaker would act and how different boxes would affect a speakers performance

willwren 03-01-2004 11:57 PM

Write it. Or get someone else to. This type of article should be a collaberation of several members.

jachin 03-02-2004 12:02 AM

ok ill try to talk to bonnemn. this may take a while to do because there is a mountain of information to gather and i have to make sure that everybody can understand it

New Techinfo article on adjusting ELC for a firmer ride, less weight transfer to the rear at the track, or simply adjusting your ride height:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=83

My new car 04-12-2004 10:32 AM

Okay I have not read through all of the Tech info for it is extremely long. I was just wondering if you guys have anything in there on how to replace supercharger bearings. I was told mine are going out and would not like to pay the 1000 dollar dealer charge of fixing them. I am a do it yourselfer so no tast is too hard. thanks

willwren 04-12-2004 11:08 AM

A few members here have done it, and it's not too common to have to. If you post this in Forced Induction, we can help you out. (and verify that this is actually the problem). It's typically just a 30 dollar coupler that needs replacing.

was'nt there a way to do this on the 00+ models? Pdad posted the schematics that showed what went where, maybe he has a write up or something already?

willwren 04-21-2004 12:06 PM

Been awhile....new article http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=84 details the wire colors for the starter column (switch) wiring in a 1993. Other years similar. This should help troubleshooting Vats (passkey), starting problems, or aid in the install of an aftermarket alarm/starter.

Thanks to acg_ssei.

willwren 09-12-2004 06:47 PM

Techinfo, Specifications, article 16:
