Great, now your car looks like mine! So much for being the only one with tinted tail lights I guess!

Deathrat-

Nope, you def not the only one :P Its a great mod though, I think everyone should do it! I did mine back in May, and I have yet to be bothered by anyone (police, etc). The tint has held up very well to the weather, and everything still looks great.

I would be carefull with the 1157'* though. Although they are brighter, you mind find that putting them in will play games with your Lamp Monitor on your dash (different resistence levels between the bulbs), and it will think they are blown. Its worth a shot though however, and it if works let us know, maybe I'll swap mine too.

Later!

****. You're right....I swapped in the wrong part number for my 3rd brakelight in May, cuz the only thing I had laying around was a 12 volt RV bulb with the same base, and it knew the difference.....BUT, it might be possible to build a small circuit to trick the lamp monitor.....I'll buy one and try it. I don't remember without going out to my car, but does the lamp monitor include the backup lights? I changed those, but didn't have a problem. I'm pretty sure it looks for the amount of current to be too low in each circuit. A slightly higher current draw would solve the problem. The amount of resistance in a bulb is minimal. Adding a parallel resistor of a very low value would do the trick.

No lamp monitor on my 92 SE, so no problems with bulbs! The Driver Info Centre in my 92 SE is used only for certain gauges like "Low Fuel", "Check Gauges", "Check Oil", "Check Temp" & so on.... Actually I think it'* pretty lame to have it at all since it duplicates the actual gauges! Maybe it would be more worthwhile if it did do more stuff!

I don't know about you guys, but my neck isn't flexible enough to see my exterior lights while I'm driving. Most people rely on a friendly person or a cop to tell 'em something'* out. Pontiac did a great one when they started using the lamp monitor. It'* helped me twice since May. Was it even an option in 92? Maybe you could swap one in.

It'* just a "SE" thing back then. Remember Pontiac just changed the body style, put in a EGRless engine & decided to leave out some other things that the previous body styles had. By 93 Pontiac started adding more features back in once they got the bugs worked out on the basic stuff. Most Car Manufacturers do this to try things out & see what sells!

Ok now I'm REALLY interested in this liquid tint!

Where can I get it and what is it called? Comes off with alcohol right?

Just about any auto parts store can get you the tint. I had mine overnighted, but you can also order it through www.summitracing.com you'll have to pay shipping and wait for it. It'* VHT Nightshades (the hi-temp paint people), and judging by the smell of the stuff, it' ain't coming off with alcohol....especially after I satin clear-coated it in.

Deathrat went alot darker than me, but used a different product.....for plastic models. I did 4 coats, even though the can said to to 3. I was hiding bubbles, and 3 didn't do it. I take it you've seen my website....just about everything is detailed there.
