I don't understand driving in D like some have suggested. Nearly every bonneville out there is driven by some greying old lady, who just puts it in OD every single time...

Are you ?
Out of the thousands of Bonnevilles i've seen, ONE has had an old woman driving it. It was a bare bones SE too. I have NEVER seen an old woman drive a SSEi. If the network of buttons wouldn't scare them away the power sure would. All of the few LSS'* i've seen have had middle aged men with suits driving them.

Or they could be a good forty years from greying :P . I always drive mine in OD, I've been told I *could* put it in D (3rd) while cruising downtown areas but it'* not necessary and what happens if I forget to go to OD before I hit the highway again?

That'* betting on me actually hearing it and then realizing that it'* actually the motor not being totally normal (so, maybe, I'm just not that in tune with my car....).
