When I first got this 97 SSEi in early 2001 I had pulled up to a light on a local hwy next to a Mustang GT. His tag read CUL8R. He was a car length ahead of me at the light and as I rounded the car in front of me he took off. I caught him, but traffic was coming up to me fast and he had the open lane. I went the center lane route and got in front easily. Left him behind from them on, but it seemed like it was tough to keep ahead of him.
Yesterday I was on my way home and a Mitzi eclipse took off around me I csught up to him rather quickly but could never just run away from him. Traffic kept me from over taking him. I really need to gain more juice. I'm getting several great ideas from this site and the great members.

Ok, I believe you have the Series II engine correct? (I forget when they started putting the Series II for the */C cars...) Anyways, I will assume you will, just start doing the same modifications that the GTP'* do. Like a pulley swap would be the easiest mod since you are just adding more boost. If you want more radical ideas, just post here and they can be supplied.

99BonnevilleSE,
From what I've studied, the MAF screen is needed to correctly direct the incoming air. Does removing it add more HP while maintaining a stable power plant and is the incoming air mixture properly directed? :?:

Yes the MAF purpose is to make sure incoming air is uniform and straight going over the MAF wires to get a proper reading, many people have removed it and there are no problems. It'* up to you, I removed it and gained top end coupled with my intake made a good chunk of difference. But just one word of warning, its a flimsy screen so it only comes out once, you wont be able to save it really if you want to reinstall it. Just letting you know if you decide to remove it.
