Default is this SSEi worth it?

i have always loved the Supercharged SSEi and i now have a chance to get one. i would really appreciate some opinions on an SSEi i may be purchasing tomarrow. it is a dark green '92 SSEi with gold crosslace wheels and tan interior. the interior is pretty nice, not perfect but nice. it seems to be fully loaded including HUD, sunroof, leather etc.

it needs a new hood and the front bumper cover has a rip in it. the A/C condesor is also damaged - it looks like someone backed into it with a trailer hitch. the radiator is fine. the car has some hail damage on the roof and trunklid, it'* not really bad but i wouldn't go so far as to call it 'minor' damage. the car is rust free - i looked under the car, behind the mouldings as best i could, lower doors, sills etc and cannot find any traces of rust anywhere. the front passenger door is also missing the body side cladding.

what really worries me is the engine. the SC/waterpump belt was gone, and there were traces of oil in the coolant. the coolant was full and bright green, but i could tell there was that shiny purple-ish trace of oil contamination on the surface. the engine oil was full and looked fine - no trace of coolant in the oil at all. bad head gasket? cracked head/* or block? the transmission fluid was bright red. i do not know the mileage of this vehicle yet. the car had no battery when i looked at it today.

so i offered $700 and will find out tomarrow if they accept. i did offer $1000 before i found out about the traces of oil in the radiator. the car is owned by my brother'* boss, and he has agreed to accept payments ($200/month) AND transfer the title to my name immediately, ie. before the car is even paid off. there is NO WAY i could get an SSEi any other way really, and i REALLY want an SSEi!!! financing another more expensive SSEi from a dealer in good condition is just really not an option right now. should i go for it? is $700 too high even considering i really want an SSEi and can fix the car myself?

any feedback much appreciated,
thanks
joshua

yeah you're prolly right. still, the car would look great with a new hood and i can easily take care of the head gaskets or a motor swap if need be. after rereading my post i think i made the car out to sound worse than it actually is, but i think maybe i need a reality check oh well.
thanks

Best way to tell about oil is to pull the filter/change oil, and see what'* in it. Don't drive it without that belt on there, or even start it!

If you need a car, it'* enough to get you around find, and a good thing to learn on, to either fix up, or learn on for the next car.

You'd need the whole PCM, computer, harness, and a matching engine and tranny. Yours would work, but you'd need a PCM designed for it.

dang, i know of a person that is running a custom turbocharged 3100 60* V6 off of an OBD-1 3.1 MPFI wiring harness with an ECM & EEPROM and custom burnt TGP code (as opposed OBD-2 w/ PCM engine management). i guess i was hoping the same could be done with an S1->S2 L67 swap...using a custom edited EEPROM of course. it sounds like it would probably be easier to swap the newer OBD-2 wiring harness & PCM over along with the S2 L67 and electronically controlled trans. oh well that is for another thread altogether i'm gettin a little ahead of myself

anywayz - really good chance this car will be in my posession tomarrow afternoon i will post some pics of it.

after sleeping on it, i decided that the most i could offer was $500 considering there is a really good chance this thing needs a new engine.

i offered $500, he refused and i walked out.

unless this guy can fix it or is willing to invest the time/money into it, the car isn't worth squat as is. the most a salvage yard will give him is $100. i have a feeling the car will sit for a few months and find it'* way to the local salvage yard. oh well
