OK, I am looking at some other cars and test driving them to see what I like. Well, I am confused....

My stock 97 SSEi is supposed to have 240Hp, and I love the performance of the supercharger.

I recently drove 2 other cars: A 265Hp V6 Nissan Ultima and a 340Hp Infinity Q45.

Well, the Nissan felt like I was driving a 4CYL car, acceleration sucked and the engine felt gutless.

The Q45 with a 340HP V8 had lots more power, but I still feel my SSEi could waste it at the lights.

Whats up? Am I imagining things - The Bonnie is probably heavier than all these cars too. Why does my Bonnie feel lots faster than these other higher horsepower cars???

Not much can compete with the 280 ft lbs of tq

But dont forget this are DOHC car with high transmission gearings, your blown 3800 has a lot more low end power but I think a Q45 would lay waste to a L67 on the hwy.

HP sells, TQ is that throw you back in your seat.

I was on the interstate, and tried to merge quickly, and both cars just didnt have the get up and go that the SSEi has. I was surprised. Around town the Nissan seemed very sluggish. I thought the Q45 was generally comparible to the Bonnie. Pity about the pricetag.

I would compare the SSEi performance and acceleration with a Cadillac Deville or a BMW 740i.

I have a friend who owns a 2004 Nissan Altima 3.5. He and I will run them latter this summer (after he breaks his engine in). I have 115,XXX on the clock and am running an unmodded Series 1 L67. I will let you know the outcome.

I look forward to hearing those results.

What Jim said about the gearing is right. Torque is torque, and the SSEi makes SO MUCH of it down low. With the SC, it doesn't suffer at higher RPM ranges unlike us NA bretheren. DOHC cars are not necessarily "gutless" down low (although some are), many have the gearing to offset it. 210lb-ft @ 2000 with my car loses out to 165lb-ft @ 4400 with our other car - blame a weight advantage and a 4.10 limited-slip rear end (I think both cars have similar gearing in their 4-speed automatics)

From road test data that I've seen over the past while, the Altima and SSEi should be neck and neck, but the Altima has an edge if it'* a 5-speed. Undoubtedly, an SSEi should feel faster and raise more "holy #&*$" from unsuspecting passengers

The Nissan was just boring though. No fun.

Yeah, I took an associate for a fast drive around the block recently, and he was blown away by how fast my 'Grandpa car' is

I remember coming out of one corner with my foot to the floor, and he was bug-eyed and hanging on for his life Awesome, I love my SC - oh, did I already say that !!

I cant do that in my Z28, I'll just lose the rear end on the corners under hard acceleration, but the Bonnie just keeps pulling it around the corner, its great.
