So the black lining stuff is falling apart from the lens huh? could you somehow take it all off wihtout destroying the entire assembly?

that'* the problem, the black lining is peeling away from the inside of the lens,

what I was thinking was that someone might have experience with getting these lights apart. It appears the lights are made of at least a few different pieces of molded plastic, but then all glued together. I've tired prying on it, I've tried heat gun, I haven't tried any chemicals yet (not sure what to try) but so far I haven't been able to find a way to get these things apart, that won't destroy them.

Too many layers, bud. That'* what I tried first. And that'* why I simply blacked them out. Looks cool, solves the problem.

The "I'm a cheap SOB" fix that came to my mind looking at your pics would be to tape off the outside very carefully, get yourself some Krylon Fusion in black, and paint it. If it were to go to the stripes accross the lights, this wouldn't work at all, but since it'* just the perimeter for now, it could hide the problem till a permanent fix comes along.
