I was thinking about installing my spoiler myself. But i am really nervous about drilling holes in my trunk. It just seams like an easy thing to do and not pay the body shop to do for me. Has anyone put on there own spoiler? Any tips or tricks to make it eaiser? Or should i just let the body shop do it?

i would make a template from paper or thin cardboard first.

I have a spoiler for my Bonne. I just need to get it painted green. I went out and took one off in the JY, took a large sheet of paper, and traced the lines of the trunk and the holes. I don't know when I will get the spoiler painted, but I know Im not going to drill the holes and put it on and run Christmas theme.

i have helped a bud with a regal do it about a year ago... he was so scared to do it, so needed me to start the project... measure 8 times, cut once... we made a template from paper and had everything test fit perfect... you cant really mess up if you are sober

So why are you having so many troubles with tails and regulators.

I'd agree, paper template, lay it out. Ensure you centerpunch the spots you are going to drill (keeps drill from walking). Maybe ask for someone to pull theirs and give you general measurements.

My son and dad put a spoiler on my car and didn't have any problems. I was very nervous but it turned out fine and no leaks at all Go for it!!

Your drill 'targets' are clearly defined under the trunk lid. There are access holes in the inner framing for the nuts.

Make sure you apply some black 'trim and weatherstripping' silicone sealant around each spoiler stud just before installing. Other than that, it'* pretty straightforward. About a half dozen members here have added spoilers to the 92-99'*, and even a couple 97-91'*.

you could just get a white trunk lid that already has a spoiler.

But I like wrens suggestion of looking/ drilling from underneath. (atleast drill a pilot hole from underneath and then the real one from the top.

My husband and cousin did mine. Pretty easy to do, just be patient and take it slow, and seal up those holes!
