Pic is fuzzy because of all the lighting and me using my camera phone (not the best camera around).

Yeah, we looked and found the same stuff under the back bumper so it'* just road salt that got sprayed around the fuel fill door.
I know they are supposed to lock but this one wasn't.
I will be changing the fuel filter for safety'* sake this afternoon when I go to pick the car up...

Saw it on mythbusters! They did a test on putting sugar though the engine, nothing happened. They didnt run it that long but nothing happened. And plus only on 1 cyclinder? Its unlikely. Hey another thing it looks as if 2 cyclinders have been damage...Obiviosly not cause you would have said something but its looks like it in the 5 cyclinder?

#1 cylinder has puddle of oil from when I pulled the head. #2 cylinder is not visible in this pic.

What are the odds a fuel injector may have gotten clogged/failed? :?
I would assume the o2 sensor would be reading wrong and would have given me a SES light.

All I read is that you did to 0-80 runs with no problems and then you tore it down and found a broken piston. What happened in between to make you tear it down?
Maybe I missed it, but did you tell us the backround on the failure?

Completee 18k mile 2001 L67 is going in, from fuel rail down to the pan. Water pump and ICM from the 00 engine were swapped due to damage from the accident the 01 SSEi they came in was involved in.
