Yup, that'* the #3 piston. Talked to a guy who will put a piston in and reassemble (he has rebuilt hemi engines for my dad with good results so he'* good) for $50. Just have to get a piston and gaskets and head bolts. Said he will look at my original 110k engine I never ran and see if it needs bearings ... if it does he'll do that for $100.

Anyhow, as far as this pistons goes, I am clueless. Two 0-80 runs about 2 weeks ago with the scanner hooked up revealed 0 KR, except a small blip of 2* around the shift.
All I can think is sugar in the gas and my ex'* former bf who had gotten in a little arguement with me at the bar the night before it blew.
Just thought of this tonight, but I am going to check the gas cap area for any traces of sugar, but it may be hard to tell cause I know there was road salt residue in there two days prior when I put gas (92 octane) in.

Man you have to be kidding me! If that'* the case, I don't even know what I would do besides find him and do what I can to make him pay for it.

FOCUS man.. all I see is Fuzzy Wuzzies...

If you suspect sugar..have you read up on the internet about sugar?

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ighlight=sugar

My research says you should replace your fuel filter...not the piston. Plus...if you lock your car, the tank is locked. SSEI feature loaded sedan FTW.

Please get some better pictures. If one piston went..and someone had put something in to mess with you..I'd expect damage or symptoms on others as well.

The gas door lock only goes so far IMO. I'd get a $13 locking gas cap. I have, with every car I've owned and currently own.

But regardless, that'* a huge chunk gone! Good luck on the replacement.

I also have my doubts about the sugar theory, due to my personal research, but a question for you:

What made you look for something to start with?

All I read is that you did to 0-80 runs with no problems and then you tore it down and found a broken piston. What happened in between to make you tear it down?

Have you had any indications of coolant leakage from the LIM gasket? Because that often manifests in #3 cylinder, IIRC.

dude that sucks! atleast it seems like you can get it fixed for cheap so that part is good. Sorry to get off topic but where can you get a locking gascap? is the keycoded to the cars key?

Yeah, pretty far off topic, but...

Most local parts stores down this way carry locking gas caps. No, they are not key matched to you ignition or lock key. Where you are, you might try Canadian Tire.

I'm impressed lash, you're learning well Grasshopper. Most auto parts store such as Parts Source, CTC, Wallmart auto centers will have them.

As for sugar doing that type of damage only to one cylinder, to me is unlikely.

Without (hopefully) getting too long winded, I gotta express my doubts for the sugar as well. If it had mixed well enough to get through the filter, any damage it might have done, in my mind anyways would be more wide or evenly spread out.

Besides, sugar is flammable. Mixed with gas, I doubt it would do anything more than other "additives"

Either way, though it sucks that that happened. But you're lucky to know someone who will help you get her fixed...
