Well thanks guys, I just wanted to get some opinions. I dont plan on selling my car anytime soon, mostly because I still owe money on it, and its still serving me well and has been basically problem free.

Theres just certain aspects of the Bonneville that I miss, and when the time comes Id like to get another one, and although im not ruling out the 92-99 body style, I just like the 00+ much better.

I just miss having tons of room while sitting in the drivers seat, granted Im only about 6' 1" with shoes on and weigh in at a massive 165 pounds, but I have to drive with my seat scooted as far back as it will go to be comfortable, and sometimes I feel like the car is closing in on me, and just want to start freaking out on it

I also miss being able to cruise the town with 4 of my closest and biggest friends comfortably. Now when everyone piles in my car they can barely fit in the backseat, especailly the person behind me.

But anyway ill be sure and remember this when im shopping around...whenever that may be.

Depending on where you have most of your height, you may trade one "problem" for another. If it'* mostly in your legs, you'll be fine. If it'* your torso, you may find the headroom a bit short. I too am about 6'1" and my head brushes against the headliner. Finding one without a sunroof will give you a couple of extra inches.

My experience:
I have a 96 SSE that has been a wonderfully reliable car. I think I am just now developing the UIM problem (it is drinking coolant) but after 135,000 and after very few problems, I think it has been a great car. I think I have finally decided that I much prefer the wedge shape of the 00-05s to the jelly bean shape of the 92-99s but you'll hear howls of disagreement on this forum.

I am one month into a GXP that I now love more than I thought I would before I bought it. Here'* the trick: get one that is still under warranty or buy the extended and get them to work out the big known problems. I took mine in immediately for the IShaft problem and it goes back for the fog light problem in a few days. Now alot of people say "for $40,000 they shouldn't have these problems", and those people are correct. By your Bonnie used. This is not specific to the Bonnie. All GMs plummet in value after the first year or so,that'* when they become phenomenal deals, but that'* also why GM won't be making cars in 20 years.

My mother had an 01 Camry that had a host of problems. Other people report having none. Is the Camry more reliable? Yes. But it is an uncomfortable, bland, powerless pile of sh*t to drive. I drove hers for her once and hated every single thing about it. Let'* not even talk about Ford'* problems (they'll be done with cars in 10 years - a speciality company producing only Mustangs).And guess what? Both Mercedes and BMWs have had periods of poor reliability.


Finally, this forum has been excellent. I am glad I joined (wish I would have done so sooner). This people here have so much knowledge about Bonnies that it makes me rest a little easier.

had an 89......loved it!

have a 94......now I feel at ease knowing my daughter is driving a safe car.

Now I drive a 2000 and look for reasons to drive it.....even down to the mail box!

Enough said........problems, ya I've had my share, but I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle. I like my 2000 most of all my years I've had.

103,000 miles, and no complaints except that it'* not fast enough yet.....

And the reason you hear about "all these terrible reliability problems" is because you read a forum that exists to diagnose them. People wouldn't post much just to say their car is doing just fine.

unfortunately the leg/headroom on the 2000+ models is not that great. Our 90'* bonnevilles had significantly more room than our 00 Bonnevilles do. Truth be told, the Bonneville is probably close to your Intrigue in leg and head room. Atleast, I know that the Regals I test drove had slightly MORE room than our Bonneville. It'* crazy, but it'* just what I found.
