Now hang in there guys. Before you say it does nothing and it'* crap.

I have personal experience with it. And it worked for me.

Super cold weather..old 350 motor in my truck. Hard starting (almost didn't turn fast enough) and it'* making a heck of a racket until the oil pumped up..which was too long in my mind.

Changed the oil and added Slick 50. Drove a little for the product to do it'* thing.

Started up the very next morning..just as cold outside....it started up like it was a warm summer day.

Also had cars go plenty of miles w/o a problem. Is it miracle oil? No way..it'* an additive every 50K.

I don't believe things before I see them usually. This one I saw.

In defense of Slick 50, tests done on a Chevy 6 cylinder engine by the University of Utah Engineering Experiment Station found that after treatment with the PTFE additive the test engine'* friction was reduced by 13.1 percent, the output horsepower increased from 5.3 percent to 8.1 percent, and fuel economy improved as well. Unfortunately, the same tests concluded that "There was a pressure drop across the oil filter resulting from possible clogging of small passageways." Oil analysis showed that iron contamination doubled after the treatment, indicating that engine wear increased (Rau).

the FTC and Slick 50

In 1997, three subsidiaries of Quaker State Corp. (the makers of Slick 50) settled Federal Trade Commission charges that ads for Quaker State'* Slick 50 Engine Treatment were false and unsubstantiated. According to the FTC complaint, claims such as the following made in Slick 50 ads falsely represented that without Slick 50, auto engines generally have little or no protection from wear at start-up and commonly experience premature failure caused by wear:

Slick 50 will reduce engine wear for a short period of time after use, and will cause more wear after that (long-term).

It'* no better that Zmax. http://www.pecuniary.com/newsletters...additives.html

The ONLY thing this stuff hurts is your wallet. With that said, if it makes you (and your car) feel good, and you change your oil at regular intervals....Use it!!!

Alot of people will buy it when they notice a problem. Reduced oil pressure is one. And they see an improvement. Why? They put worthless PTFE (Teflon) particles in FIFTY WEIGHT OIL. So 1/5 of your oil capacity is a higher viscosity.

That'* a cheap trick if you ask me. Ask yourself why they'd use 50wt when most cars out there today use 30wt?

Mobil one in the mower? Hmmmmm..... Can we do that? If so, then why do I buy that "special" SAE oil? Sorry to get off Topic. It'* still about oil though...

My dad swears by Slick 50....but then again, if the man "fixes" everything with Grey Duct Tape too... I guess Slick 50 is no different from Duct Tape in the realm of "fixing" problems....

I've used the Lucas and seen no difference.

Like you mentioned Don...a quart or so of Mobil 1 goes a long way.

I've used Slick 50 in the past, right after it appeared on the market. I found that I got the same immediate effect by using Mobile 1 and am much more comfortable using it, for long term.
